Classes
There are two ways you can give fencing a go at the Fencing Institute. Join one of the group classes listed below or, if you are an experienced fencer and have your own fencing gear, become a Full Club Member.
If you wish to fence in Nelson go to our Nelson page here.
Our classes are designed for both new and advanced fencers to learn the basics, get a good workout, extend skills or just have a fun time. We offer beginner classes and advanced classes for both young fencers and adults. All protective clothing and fencing equipment is provided initially except for a fencing glove. We will measure you when you start and obtain a glove for you. You will need sports shoes, trousers, a light long-sleeved top and a named water bottle. You will be expected to have your own gear after you have been fencing a year, or sooner if preferred. Before buying, please talk to your coach about what equipment would be best for you.
If you are a beginner and would like to join one of the classes listed below contact Karen Johnston 027 2492939 or email hello@fencinginstitute.co.nz When you join a group class your fee will include your membership to the Fencing Institute as a Starter Member. You will be able to participate in our social activities, purchase club clothing and receive the club’s newsletters.
