Membership and fees:

If you would like to give fencing a go, we recommend you join one of our beginner classes. These classes are designed to be fun, educational and provide a relaxed environment where you can be active and get involved in a great sport alongside other interested newcomers. Equipment is provided. Your group class fee covers your membership to the club as a Starter Member, your class session and use of the space and equipment.

After completing beginner and intermediate classes or a series of private lessons, talk to your coach about when it would be appropriate for you to become a full club member. This will give you access to improving your fencing and to bouting with a range of more experienced fencers. If you already have experience fencing and have your own equipment, this is also the option for you contact us.

A full yearly membership is either $500 or $50 a month. Your membership year begins from when you register online. Contact [email protected] to arrange this.

If you're only here occasionally, you can pay $60 per month. This membership cannot be done online. Contact [email protected]

If you are a visiting experienced fencer you are welcome to fence for free for 2 club night sessions. Call in on one of the club nights from 7pm or contact the club ahead of time. You can then decide if you want to become a member.

If you want to become a club supporter, the associate membership is $40.

Your membership covers the club nights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with an organized warm-up, group footwork sessions and bouting.

Members are expected to have all of their own equipment but if you don't have everything you need we can help with that.

If you are going to compete in regional and national competitions you are required to affiliate with Fencing New Zealand (FeNZ). https://dev.fencing.org.nz/index.php/membership Choose Fencing Mid South - Competitive Full Member and click 'Sign up'. For Fencing Club choose The Fencing Institute.

If you would like individual training and coaching, this is available from our coaches. This is by arrangement with the coaches.
