FIE foil and epee blades / S2000 sabre blades also required for all tournaments except those with size 3 blades or smaller – ie in line with FIE requirements.Note:
- Tournaments overseas (eg Australia) will have their own equipment requirements dependent on the Fencing Federation and the type of tournament.
- These standards are intended for New Zealand ONLY.
- It will be expected that where a fencer can use equipment of a higher standard – eg 800N or breeches rather than long trackpants, then they will do so.
- Leon Paul SR-71 epee blades dated 08-2012 to 06-2015, and Leon Paul V epee blades 08-2012 to 06-2015 without serial numbers - are currently banned by Fencing NZ.
- Sabre Gloves must be 800N. This rule was adopted by FeNZ at the start of the 2019 season.
- Leon Paul masks using the Comfort-fit system need a secondary security strap; visor masks are prohibited for all three weapons.
- Masks - All masks need to conform to current fie rules as at 1 Jan 2018 (without new requirements adopted from and including world champs) regarding secondary strap. Both security systems on mask shall be in good working order The metal tongue to be properly positioned and able to hold the mask in position, independent of the elastic strap. The elastic shall be in good working order and return to original position – ie shall not be deformed and shall have elasticity. The hook and loop securing the elastic shall be in good order and capable of retaining the elastic and resist being removed.
- Mask Wires - Clear or White are the only acceptable headwires to be used. Curly mask wires are not permitted.
